Background and Context of Implementation: Integrating Customer Databases Following the Merger of Seven Group Companies
In 2021, Recruit integrated seven of its core business and functional companies within the group.
To maximize the benefits of this integration, consolidating customer data managed separately across multiple business units became a key challenge. Achieving this allows for a comprehensive view of transactions across business domains, enabling high-level analysis and accurate management decision-making.
This initiative was led by the Customer Infrastructure Design Group, Planning Division, Client Success Promotion Office.
Addressing the Challenge of Customer Database Integration
The mission and vision of the Customer Infrastructure Design Group are to integrate and utilize customer data across the various service domains offered by Recruit. This aims to build a system that allows Recruit to understand the customer situation from a 360-degree perspective and provide services and value at the appropriate time.
Recruit operated with two major business domains—sales promotion and human resources—resulting in multiple customer management systems and a vast, redundant volume of customer data. Under these conditions, different management IDs made it difficult to match records, preventing the integration of information for a single unique company across different domains.
Initially, the team attempted internal data cleansing; however, without a definitive source of truth for corporate information, the process was labor-intensive and faced challenges regarding the comprehensiveness and accuracy of the matching.
Consequently, the company decided to implement an external corporate database that provides a common key code system (customer master) for data matching and offers broad coverage. As a result, uSonar's corporate database, LBC, was selected based on three criteria:
1. The volume of data held, including coverage of headquarters, branches, and individual store locations (including source diversity).
2. Data freshness and accuracy (frequency of information acquisition and updates using both automated scraping and manual verification).
3. The inclusion of corporate hierarchy and structural data.
Implementation Results and Future Utilization
Recruit's integrated customer infrastructure (Connext) is now linked via API with the full LBC corporate database master from uSonar. uSonar provides real-time information on corporate mergers, relocations, and relationships between entities.
