Background of Implementation
SATO was considering the implementation of Sales Cloud (SFA) to strengthen its corporate sales, but it required the maintenance of master data. Specifically, the company faced challenges with data that was difficult to use for sales and marketing due to issues such as inconsistent data formatting, a mix of old and new information, input errors leading to duplicate master data, confusion between headquarters and branch offices (stores), and missing corporate attributes such as industry classification.
To maximize the functionality of the newly implemented SFA, it was necessary to maintain the master data and achieve the following three objectives:
1. Unification of data that had been registered and dispersed by purpose
2. Systematization of data across different levels, from headquarters to branch offices (stores)
3. Establishing operational processes that do not rely on specific individuals
To address this, uSonar provided its customer data integration solution, uSonar, which enables the automatic maintenance and unification of master data.
Utilizing the Customer Data Integration Solution "uSonar"
By combining SATO's existing master data, which was held in various formats, with "LBC" (12.5 million business locations), the corporate master data for Japan held by uSonar, we assigned a common code (LBC Code) to achieve data unification. Furthermore, we leveraged the data structure of "LBC" to systematize the relationship between headquarters and branch offices (stores). By simply storing the LBC-assigned master data in uSonar, the system automatically assigns LBC codes to newly registered data and provides updated data in coordination with the SFA.
Additionally, uSonar provided SATO's sales department with the business card management app "uMeishi" (Patent No. 5538512, Patent No. 6325604), which allows users to accurately digitize business cards simply by taking a photo with a smartphone and appending corporate attributes, thereby enabling the real-time utilization of business card information.
SATO plans to implement Pardot, the Marketing Automation (MA) tool provided by Salesforce.com, and intends to integrate and utilize it with Sales Cloud and uSonar in the future.
* The uMeishi service was discontinued in August 2025. The currently available business card management app is mSonar, which features significantly enhanced functionality.
