uSonar Launches In-House Disability Supporter Program
— Supporting the Daily Lives of Employees with Disabilities to Create an Inclusive Environment for All —

uSonar Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Nami Fukutomi; President: Katsuhito Nagatake; hereinafter uSonar) is pleased to announce that employees who have completed the training program for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's In-House Disability Supporter Program have begun activities to support the work styles of employees with disabilities.
uSonar remains committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible work environment where everyone can thrive.

About the In-House Disability Supporter Program

This is a corporate program operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Foundation for Employment Services. To ensure that employees with disabilities can work with peace of mind over the long term, the program trains employees to become In-House Disability Supporters who provide daily support within the workplace.
After completing the training course, participants are registered as supporters. The program includes the creation and submission of a six-month support activity plan, the implementation of support activities based on that plan, and advisory visits from professional support staff. uSonar completed the program in April and has since transitioned to autonomous activities.
According to the foundation, this is the ninth year of the program, with a total of 3,044 participants to date, including two from our company.

uSonar's Challenged Employment and In-House Disability Supporter Activity Examples

uSonar has long been actively promoting the employment of individuals with disabilities, such as developmental disabilities. Building on the In-House Disability Supporter Program, we are now implementing our existing daily retention support in a more systematic manner. Below are some examples of our activities.

・ A part-time data entry staff member with auditory hypersensitivity is provided with a quiet workspace and allowed to use noise-canceling headphones. To maintain their health, they work a shortened schedule from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a practice that has continued for a year and a half.

・ For a full-time database engineer who has difficulty matching names to faces, we provide regular seating charts, display department name boards in each area, and encourage employees to wear name tags.

In addition, we also:
・ Conduct regular interviews based on the needs and workload of the employee to share challenges and goals and overcome them together.
・ Arrange opportunities for direct consultation with visiting social workers.
・ Recommend holding internal meetings in quiet conference rooms to accommodate difficulties in hearing caused by Auditory Processing Disorder.
・ Hold regular 1-on-1 meetings between the employee's supervisor and the supporter to confirm work instructions and share progress.
The improvement measures we have introduced are often beneficial regardless of whether an employee has a disability, and we believe they contribute to creating a workplace environment where everyone can work comfortably.
