uSonar Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Nami Fukutomi; President: Katsuhito Nagatake; hereinafter "uSonar"), which maintains Japan's largest* corporate database, is pleased to announce the regular publication of the "Microcosm of Japanese Companies Report," which utilizes statistical information derived from the LBC corporate database.
The "Microcosm of Japanese Companies Report" is a statistical report based on "LBC," a corporate database that covers and structures the business locations of nearly every legal entity operating in Japan. A key feature of this report is the aggregation and analysis of Japanese companies using various corporate trend data that are not held by government agencies or credit research firms.
*Largest in Japan for holding data on the number of headquarters and business location sites (based on internal research as of July 16, 2024)
Background of the "Microcosm of Japanese Companies (≒ Japanese Economy) Report" Launch
To support corporate sales and marketing activities, uSonar maintains "LBC," Japan's largest corporate database, which has been accumulated and updated over many years and contains 8.2 million business locations.
LBC structures data for nearly all business locations, ranging from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses and individual shops. Furthermore, it links basic information such as addresses, phone numbers, executives, industry types, number of employees, annual sales, and capital, with a wide variety of corporate trend data that reveal the characteristics of each company.
The information sources for this corporate trend data are diverse, including commercial and corporate registries across Japan, securities reports, newspapers and official gazettes, data on newly established corporations, public information from government and local municipalities, map information, disclosure requests to administrative agencies, and corporate website checks.
Based on this, LBC assigns estimated sales and estimated number of employees to all 4 million companies, including joint-stock companies and limited liability companies (at the business location level; work is ongoing to increase coverage).
We believe that this corporate data can be utilized not only for the corporate sales and marketing activities that uSonar has traditionally supported, but also for research reports that meet the interests of society at large.
