At uSonar, personal information refers to information about a living individual that can identify a specific person by name, date of birth, or other descriptions contained therein (including information that cannot identify a specific person on its own, but can be easily cross-referenced with other information to identify a specific person).

  1. uSonar ensures that the management supervisor (Personal Information Protection Office) of the department handling personal information maintains appropriate management practices.
  2. uSonar handles personal information only within the scope of services entrusted by our clients. In such cases, uSonar proposes appropriate measures for personal information protection to the client.
  3. uSonar provides personal information to third parties within the scope of the intended use, provided that a contract prohibiting re-provision is concluded with the recipient.
  4. uSonar may entrust the handling of personal information to third parties. In such cases, uSonar performs necessary and appropriate supervision of the entrusted party in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (the "Personal Information Protection Act").
  5. uSonar manages personal information safely and accurately, and strives to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, leakage, and falsification of personal information.
  6. uSonar complies with the Personal Information Protection Act, related laws and regulations, and various guidelines published by the Personal Information Protection Commission.
  7. uSonar establishes an internal compliance program for the protection of personal information, ensures that all officers and employees strictly adhere to it, and strives to periodically review and improve this program.

uSonar acquires personal information appropriately in the course of developing various businesses in accordance with the basic policy mentioned above. uSonar will not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use specified below. uSonar may provide personal data to client companies and organizations within the scope of the intended use. We have completed the notification of third-party provision via opt-out to the Personal Information Protection Commission regarding the purpose of use of the provided personal information, the recipients of the information, and the items of data provided to third parties.

uSonar provides personal information on the condition that the recipient complies with uSonar's code of ethics, laws, and guidelines. 3. Requests for Disclosure, Correction, and Suspension of Use of Retained Personal Data

  1. In accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, when uSonar receives any of the following requests (a. through d.) from an individual regarding their own retained personal data, we will take the necessary actions as required by law.

    a. Notification of the purpose of use of retained personal data

    b. Disclosure of retained personal data

    c. Correction, addition, or deletion of the content of retained personal data

    d. Suspension of use of retained personal data

    Please note that in the following cases, we may decline a request for disclosure based on legal requirements.

    • Cases where there is a risk of harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
    • Cases where there is a risk of significant hindrance to the proper execution of uSonar's business operations
    • Cases where it would violate other laws or regulations
  2. Requests for disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of retained personal information will be accepted by mail or fax, unless a separate special procedure is established. Please fill out the necessary information in the Request Form for Handling of Personal Information and send it to the Personal Information Protection Office listed below. For disclosure requests, please also check the details in section a. of '3. Methods for Verifying Identity or Authority in Requests Regarding Retained Personal Information' below.

  3. Methods for Verifying Identity or Authority in Requests Regarding Retained Personal Information
    a. To prevent the leakage of personal information to third parties impersonating the individual, please submit a total of two documents, (A) and (B) below, for requests regarding the disclosure of retained personal information. If these documents are not provided, we will send our response via restricted delivery mail.

    (A) One of the following (copy):
    A copy of an official document issued by a public institution, such as a driver's license, passport, health insurance card, or pension handbook (*Must be valid or currently effective and include your address, name, and date of birth)

    (B) Original copy of your Certificate of Residence (*Must be issued within the last 3 months and must not include your Individual Number)

    b. For requests other than the disclosure of retained personal information mentioned in section a. above, such as requests for correction or suspension of use, we will verify your identity by contacting you at your home or through other methods to prevent unauthorized tampering by third parties impersonating you.

  4. Procedures for Requests by an Agent If you wish to appoint an agent to make requests regarding the disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of retained personal information, please send the documents listed below. If these documents are not provided, we will send our response via restricted delivery mail.

    • One Power of Attorney from the individual to the agent
    • One copy of the individual's seal registration certificate (issued within the last 3 months and stamped on the power of attorney).

Direct Mail Opt-Out Registration Service (Automatic MPS)

uSonar voluntarily provides the Direct Mail Opt-Out Registration Service (Automatic MPS) as a concrete method for the deletion and suspension of personal information. Furthermore, by utilizing these systems and frameworks through DISH(R), LACS(R), and others, data subjects retain the right to opt out regarding the use of their personal information.

What Is the Direct Mail Opt-Out Registration Service (Automatic MPS)?

This service allows consumers to automatically opt out of receiving direct mail by calling the toll-free number printed on the envelope and entering the number located below the address label, which removes their data from future mailings.

Personal Information Protection Office

This department centrally manages the creation of operational workflows and manuals regarding personal information, the management and auditing of internal and external data, the establishment and implementation of regulations and training, and the investigation and response to inquiries. In the event of a request for the disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of personal information, we will promptly investigate the facts and consult with you regarding the disclosure, correction, suspension of use, or cessation of information provision (such as opt-out procedures).
