Background of Developing a Program That Automatically Detects Business Cards from Standard Photo Applications

Generally, business card management applications that recognize text information from business card images and store them in a database are widely used. However, since these systems do not typically search images stored within the smartphone's standard camera application (such as the camera roll) to automatically register business cards, users have historically faced the inconvenience of having to launch the management application every time to capture images.
To address this and enhance user convenience, uSonar has developed and patented a technology that identifies undetected business card images from within the standard photo application on a smartphone and automatically links them directly to the business card management application.

Use Cases for Business Card Processing Programs That Integrate Directly with Standard Photo Applications

The newly patented business card processing program allows users to capture business card images within their smartphone's standard camera roll without needing to launch the business card management application. The system automatically detects new, uncaptured business card images and determines whether they have already been processed. If the image is identified as a new business card, the system extracts the text information and stores it in the business card management application.
