Under the corporate philosophy of "Providing social efficiency, security, and privacy through the unification of proper nouns," Landscape has built Japan's largest Corporate Database of 8.2 million locations and a consumer database of 95 million records, expanding its business by supporting data utilization and developing marketing support systems.
Targeted Cyber Attack Information Leakage Issues
While Landscape has primarily supported client companies in data utilization, we are deeply concerned about the recent surge in information leakage caused by targeted cyber attacks, such as the incident involving the Japan Pension Service.
Targeted cyber attacks refer to a series of attacks specifically focused on a target with the goal of obtaining critical information. In particular, targeted attacks via email using attachments are one of the most widely abused methods. These attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and malicious, utilizing new types of malware to steal confidential and personal information. However, this malware cannot be immediately detected by conventional security measures, leaving the only realistic option to be the containment of damage to a minimum.
Therefore, Landscape will leverage the management expertise cultivated through our data utilization support to build and provide a "Targeted Cyber Attack Countermeasure Service." Specifically, we will provide a fundamental mechanism that displays a safety score for received emails with attachments—calculated using corporate attributes, domains, and IP addresses held by Landscape—to warn users before opening files. This will enable the realization of highly robust information security that prevents information leakage before it occurs.
Protecting data assets is a field where Landscape can contribute to society, and we are currently coordinating, including potential collaborations.
