I am Katsuhito Nagatake, President of uSonar Co., Ltd.
I joined uSonar in 2000 and became President in 2019. I have been a member of the Sales Department and have been consistently engaged in sales. At that time, my team was called "Planning Division" and we focused more on proposing business plans than on selling products. This policy has been passed down to the present.
When I was a student, I majored in history and studied ancient history. In the world of history studies, we conduct repeated research based on literature, derive hypotheses, support them, and create theories. Essentially, it was no different for database marketing support services. Now, as a businessperson, I encourage our members to create certain hypotheses based on the facts of the market, clients, services, and tools, and apply them to proposals for our customers' corporate activities. Our business is to support the construction of databases that form the basis of our customers' marketing activities.
Twenty years ago, our company was much smaller in size and number of employees than it is today. Thankfully, I was taught the importance of continuous learning regardless of my regular duties, directly by several seniors. I spent many late nights in front of the whiteboard with those seniors I respected, passinately discussing about the company's future vision and the tools and services that should be realized. This experience is still a very important memory.
I was also blessed with customers. In the beginning of my career, since my main role was sales promotion, I learned a lot about "who" and "how" to deliver information through campaign work for the music industry and oil companies. Gradually, our business areas shifted to operational efficiency improvement, such as "customer data maintenance" and "customer data analysis. We were able to expand our business with luxury brands, the multifunctional equipment industry, and the financial industry.
We have a "demand" system, including the scope of what other companies call "complaints". We are committed to utilizing customer feedback to improve our products and services. I believe that our strength lies in the fact that we have had many such relationships with customers who speak their minds.
No one can predict with certainty what the future holds, not only for uSonar, but for the whole ecosystem as well. With the theme of "co-creation," we will work together with our customers and employees to shape the future that cannot be foreseen.
